The Jan Cavelle Furniture Company is based in Suffolk and is a rarity in modern Britain.
A manufactoring company that is thriving without being solely reliant on an export market, a furniture company that genuinely makes its produce in this country and also, rarely, a furniture manufacturing company run by a woman.
It is now nearly 10 years since the company incorporated - though it was running under Jan's name for a couple before then. It is proud that the two first cabinet makers are still part of the business today.
Its original market was predominantly a small selection of furniture suited to show homes for builders but in a wide selection of paints and timbers. It has added to its production lines considerably and now covers a very diverse selection in terms of style and price, attracting different markets, from private homes to luxury hotels, embassies and yachts worldwide.
The company is proud to boast exports from The Cayman Islands to China but is especially proud to see so much of its produce well received in its home country as well.
The company has grown from humble beginnings to its present size spread over two factory units and employing 30-40 staff at any one time. The company attributes its success to a combination of first class service and first class furniture. Its mission statement is;
"TO AIM TO DELIVER THE BEST COMBINATION OF SERVICE AND FURNITURE IN THE UK TRADE MARKETS"
The great joy of a visit to The Jan Cavelle Furniture Company is to see the whole production in action, from a tree trunk through every stage to a sophisticated piece of designer furniture.
