BEATING THE ODDS AGAIN!                             

Cause for celebration once again at The Jan Cavelle Furniture Company today, having just received notification that Jan is one of four finalists for the Customer Service Leader of the Year Award at the prestigious National Customer Service Awards.  

Not surprisingly, local MP Richard Spring is quoted as saying about The Jan Cavelle Furniture Company “ this is an innovative, go-ahead company with an exciting future, exactly the sort of company that is putting Haverhill on the business map.” 

Previous company awards include Customer Sales and Service Back up Team of the Year (beating multi national giants Royal Mail and Vodafone into joint runners up) at the British Institute of Sales and Marketing, while Jan herself has won both the title of Anglian Business Person of the Year and the Institute of Director’s Enterprise Award.

Both Jan and the company as a whole believe in beating the odds.  Jan started the business as a single mum working from home and has built it up to where it is today, currently employing 40 people and supplying furniture to the top end of the interior design market world wide.   “Our whole business is based on the premise that sales follow superb customer service almost automatically and we continually aim to improve that service to make us stand out from the crowd.   We totally believe that there is still a future for British manufacturing. It is absolutely wonderful to have this National recognition of what we are aiming to achieve.”
AN INCREDIBLE 5 NATIONAL AWARDS

We are all set for some serious celebrating having been nominated in FIVE  categories in two different
National Awards.

 First came the news from The National Sales Awards that we were one of four finalists for the Sales Organization of the Year Award along with EDF Energy, Premier Inns and Carnival UK.  The company is represented by Jack Glennon (Head of Team). 

National Customer Service Awards

We were one of only four finalists in Customer Complaints Manager of the Year and the team received a Highly Commended in the Sales and Back-up Team of the Year Award

The Jan Cavelle Furniture company is proud to announce that their team of Mary Pryer, Kate Lanceman and Donna Moss  won the coveted Rising Star Award at the  British Institute of Sales and Marketing annual awards presentation.

They beat off stiff competition from huge multi national, household name companies from right accross the full spectrum of retail and manufacturing industry in the UK. 

Head of Sales, Jack Glennon, was also a finalist in his category and the award was presented at a Gala dinner at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel.   “It was a superb and most unexpected surprise” said Donna.  “A real honour” said  Mary  to which Kate added “brilliant, we were all completely blown away”.   

When asked how it was that a relatively small company from Suffolk beat off the competition from such a clutch of big names, one of the contingent from Jan Cavelle replied "Ah yes, but we are big company inside a little company".

This telling remark sums up our enthusiasmm and can do attitude!

Jan has been noiminated for and won through to the finals of the annual Prowess Awards, she is in line for the Inspirational Woman category.

JAN CAVELLE - ANGLIA'S BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR

It’s official. Jan Cavelle, Managing Director of the Jan Cavelle Furniture Company is the winner of the Business Person of the Year category in the Anglian Business Awards.

The awards, staged by The East Anglian Daily Times, are now in their eighth year and have grown to 14 categories.  The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Ipswich, hosted by BBC’s Look East presenter, Stewart White with Sir Ranulph Fiennes as the after dinner speaker.

Jan Cavelle said, “I was delighted to have been selected as a finalist and incredulous when the winner was announced.  It’s a fantastic accolade for me but recognition is also due to the strong team behind me.”

The Haverhill-based furniture business designs and manufactures contemporary furniture for the Interior Design Trade, supplying the luxury market in UK and overseas. Jan Cavelle furniture pieces can be seen in show houses, luxury time-share accommodation, award-winning hotels and even on television.  The company has supplied to a diverse customer base, including Rolls Royce, Gleneagles and the G8 Summit and has recently seen the steady development of its export business, with orders delivered to far-flung exotic places such as Beijing and the Cayman Islands.  The Jan Cavelle Furniture Company were also a finalist in the Awards’ Export Achievement category.

The Suffolk company’s financial year ended on 31st October, showing a record year and an impressive increase in turnover of over 50% on the previous year.

The company is gearing up for expansion again.  Jan has set up a chain of stockists of her contemporary furniture up and down the country. They are located across all regions in England and also covers Wales, Scotland and the Channel Islands.

A supplement to the current catalogue is in print and its appearance in the market is likely to stimulate more orders next year. This together with a high profile, targeted advertising campaign should see the company on target to exceed last year’s impressive turnover figures.

JAN CAVELLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT AGAIN 

Having previously scooped the IOD Businesswoman of the Year, Enterprise Award and the Anglian Business Awards 2005, Business Personality of the Year, Jan has just been announced as a finalist in the Businesswoman of the Year category for the Cambridge Evening News Business Excellence Awards.

Having successfully got through the first two stages of judging last month, Jan and her Haverhill-based contemporary furniture business impressed the judges sufficiently to be through to the last round and one of just four final candidates.  The remaining challenge for the finalists is a presentation to the panel of judges, before the judges make their decision. The winners will be announced at a glittering, gala dinner at King’s College.
